• Temple Rules and Etiquette

  When you visit the Higashi Honganji, please observe the following rules:

  • No smoking in the temple precincts
  • No open flames in the temple precincts
  • No food or drink in the halls and corridors
  • No pets except service animals
  • No photography and videography during services and rituals in the halls
  • No use of flash in the halls

  • When entering the buildings, please leave your wheeled luggage and strollers at a designated space and remove your shoes before going up the steps.
  • When in the Goei-dō (Founder’s Hall) and Amida-dō (Amida Hall), please respect the serenity of the halls.
  • Do not enter the altar area.
  • Your donation will be greatly appreciated. Please place it in the donation box.
